I was born in a cubs jersey. Not literally, but within 24-hours of my nine pound self returning from the hospital I was dawning a newly purchased Cubs onsey — the first of many jerseys I would grow to wear. For as long as I can remember sports were the centerpiece of my life. My childhood was filled with playing whatever sport I could get my hands on, and watching Chicago sports — no matter how many times my dad asked me “Are you sure you still want to be a cubs/bears fan.” If you had asked that kid what he wanted to be when he grew up, without hesitation he would have told you “a baseball player in the MLB.” I realized pretty quickly in life that I wasn’t going to go pro — my 5’7 buck-50 pound stature didn’t help either. I loved sports but I always knew there would be a day I would have to give it up. That day never came.
I vividly remember in my sophomore year of high school standing alone in our broadcast room following a basketball game when I realized sports broadcasting could be my career. I knew in that moment that sports broadcasting is how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. At the time it sounded too good to be true, and in all honesty it still does. Ever since that moment everything in my life has been to put me in the best position to chase my dream. It lead me to the University of Missouri one of the world leaders in journalism and the only college to which I applied. Then to the Kenosha Kingfish of the Northwoods league where I broadcasted 40 plus baseball games on ESPN+ and NWL+ over the summer of 2024. In 2025-26 I will be filling in for SEC Network at Missouri and continuing work with student radio KCOU 88.1 FM, DII HBCU Lincoln University, and DIII WestMinster college. All these decisions and experiences have solidified my love for play-by-play and its a career I’m going to chase as long as I can.
I’ve had people throughout my life tell me I could talk to a wall — and while one has yet to talk back —I have been blessed to chase what I love. I owe this completely to my parents and community, who have supported me emotionally and financially despite the competitive nature of sports broadcasting. Doing this job daily is truly a childhood dream come true.
