Jim Nantz Award Watchlist | University of Missouri 26′

This reel, created for the 2025 Jim Nantz Award, brings together everything I do in the world of journalism — hence the name, “Everything Reel.” It features clips from my reporting and anchoring with KOMU-8 Sports, studio hosting for The Tiger Kickoff Show, and my time as the voice of the Kenosha Kingfish. I’ve been fortunate to have so many great opportunities, I really love storytelling, and this reel showcases my passion and ability across three different aspects of sports journalism.

Hey! Thanks for checking out my portfolio. I’m Jacob Siciliano and I’m a Senior at the Missouri School of Journalism. This section will give you some background on how I found my love for journalism and to who I am when the camera isn’t rolling.
Sports were always at the center of my life. From as early as I can remember I was playing and watching baseball with my dad. When I got to school sports it helped me fit in. There was always so much to talk about: “Who was the best QB of all time?”, “Will Mike Trout win a World Series?“, “Why did the Seahawks not run on the one yard line with the best RB of the 2010s?” I had no idea these conversations and arguments would help start a career.
I honestly can’t count the amount of friendships I’ve made playing and talking about sports as a kid. Relationships are everything in life and how sports acts as unifier is truly amazing to me,
Baseball and football were my two sports in High School and I was blessed to play for two great teams at the Varsity level.
Most of my life thought my sports path would end by high school. Growing up I wanted to be a firefighter or a lawyer, but by blind luck I took a broadcast journalism elective, with a world-class journalism teacher named Jason Block. I fell in love with storytelling, and that class changed my life. I applied to one school the University of Missouri — the world leader in journalism — and the rest is history.
Outside of sports and journalism, I love to be outdoors. I love camping and mountain climbing. Colorado is my literal happy place.
Coming from the second flattest state in the Union Colorado blows me away every time I see it. I’ve been to the Rockies five years straight, including a Senior trip with eight of my closest friends — a highlight of my life.
Recently, I’ve taken a liking to golf. The game doesn’t quite like me back yet, but we’re working on it. They say it’s a life-long game right?
While my driver is still not reliable, so many people in my life are and I could not be more grateful. My parents, brother, and community both at home and in Missouri have been so supportive of me chasing my dream of becoming a sports broadcaster.
I love what I do, and thank you for taking the time to look through my website. I am always open to feedback, conversation, and opportunities of any kind in the sports journalism world.
